Frequently Asked Questions
What is FanSlam™?
FanSlam™ is a fantasy tennis website offering tournament-long Fantasy Sport contests for free and for cash prizes. Our salary cap draft format takes just minutes to complete, unlike the hours- long drafts in other sports. All you need to do is stay under the salary cap and watch your chosen players destroy the competition. You can check your team score at anytime and compare it with your opponents. Join leagues and draft your teams easily from your phone, tablet or computer. Make last minute edits and replacements or track your lineup's performance wherever you are. Once the tournament starts your players accumulate points based on how they perform. No more waiting for the season to end - payouts happen immediately after the tournament.
Is this site legal in the US and Canada?
Yes, fantasy sports are considered a game of skill and received a specific exemption from the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. FanSlam uses exactly the same rules as any other season long fantasy sports game, the only difference is that our games last the duration of the tennis tournament. Thanks to fantasy sports being specifically excluded from laws affecting online betting, FanSlam is safe for players in the US and Canada and we’re sure you will love it!
FanSlam™ is a US-based skill games company, and all of our contests are operated 100% legally under United States and Canadian law. Fantasy sports are considered, in 45 of the 50 states, as a game of skill. Residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, or Washington are not allowed to participate in our contests due to state-specific regulation against cash prize awards. We also require our users to be 18 years of age or older (19 in Alabama and Nebraska). Please check these legal requirements before enrolling into the contests.
How do I create an account?
To create an account, you simply have to create a username and password. It’s a very quick process and within minutes you’ll be able to fully enjoy our contests! FanSlam may require users to change their user names in cases where the name is offensive or promotes a commercial venture. The requirement to change will be determined at FanSlam’s sole discretion, and if requests are ignored, FanSlam may unilaterally change a player’s user name. Furthermore, as a general rule, each player on FanSlam is allowed one account. In special cases, FanSlam may allow a second account to be created. You must receive explicit written permission from FanSlam before opening a second account. Penalties are at the discretion of FanSlam staff, but may include closure of all accounts and withholding of any cash that we determine to have been fraudulently obtained.
How do I add money to my FanSlam account?
FanSlam accepts all major credit/debit cards and PayPal. It’s an easy and simple way of getting started. Log in to your account and click "Add Funds."
It is the same situation with withdrawals. For PayPal withdrawals, enter the amount you wish to withdraw along with a valid PayPal email address. PayPal requests will be processed within 48 hours. For check withdrawals, you just need to input your full name, mailing address, and the amount you wish to withdraw. Check requests usually take 7-10 business days to process. Depending on the withdrawal amount, we may ask for a Social Security number in order to fill out appropriate tax forms at the end of the year. As soon as we have processed your request, you will receive email confirmation.
How do I withdraw my winnings?
Winnings are credited to your FanSlam account once the final game of the contests is over, often within minutes. Withdrawal is an available option under your My Account menu. You can withdraw funds from FanSlam via PayPal and these requests are typically processed within 24 hours. We think withdrawals should be as easy and as fast as deposits. As soon as we have processed your request, you will receive email confirmation.
Is my money safe?
Yes, all user money is kept in a bank account, which is totally separated from the company's operational bank account.
How do Contests work?
All open contests that are completed on FanSlam have a prize pool and number of entrants. Contests labeled as "Guaranteed" will always run and pay out regardless if the contest starts as unfilled. Some structured contests, however, require a specified number of participants. If that number of participants is not reached before the start of the contest, the contest will not take place and your entrance fee will be refunded. FanSlam also reserves that right to cancel contests at our discretion, without any restrictions. This would typically be done only in cases where we believe that due to problems on the Service or events impacting the sporting events, there would be a widespread impact on the integrity of contests.
WHAT HAPPENS TO THE CONTEST IF A REAL-LIFE GAME IS CANCELLED/DELAYED/POSTPONED?
Players lock at the scheduled start time of their game, regardless of when the delay is announced or whether it is eventually postponed to a later date. You will continue to have the ability to swap out players before their respective scheduled game start time.
Do I have to pay taxes on my winnings?
You do have to pay taxes on your Cumulative Net Profit from fantasy sports. FanSlam is required to issue 1099 tax form(s) to any player who has a cumulative net profit in excess of $600 for the calendar year. This is calculated by the approximate value as ((prizes won - entry fees)+bonuses).
